On 27 August 2026, Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV), together with Da Nang city authorities, announced the launch of a project to renovate and expand Terminal 1 and expand the aircraft apron (phase 1) at Da Nang International Airport. The project has a total investment of over VND 9,936 billion and aims to raise the airport’s operating capacity to 14 million passengers a year, meeting demand for about 10 million domestic and 4 million international passengers.
The project is expected to break ground in August 2027; the apron expansion is due to finish in January 2029, and the full terminal renovation by August 2029. Da Nang International Airport — built in 1940 and now 86 years old — sits only about 3 km from the city centre, seen as a major advantage for regional transport connectivity as its operating capacity nears design limits amid fast-rising visitor numbers to Da Nang.
