The Da Nang People’s Committee has issued a plan to hold the Hoi An International Lantern Festival 2026, themed "Hoi An – Heritage Colours", from 3 to 6 December 2026 at Hoai River Square, An Hoi Sculpture Garden, along the Hoai River and several streets across the ancient town. The festival’s centrepiece is an installation of about 15 large-scale artistic lantern clusters, alongside a lantern-making experience zone, an exhibition of lanterns and upcycled art, the "Heritage Colours" art programme, and photography and lantern-pattern design competitions.
Over the festival’s four days, highlights include an opening ceremony combining art performances on the riverbank and on the water, culinary experiences showcasing heritage cuisine, a "Lantern Night Walk" programme and seminars on Hoi An’s traditional crafts. The lantern-art installations themselves are expected to remain on display through the Nguyen Tieu (Lantern) Festival occasion in early 2027, extending the ancient town’s appeal through the entire year-end festival season.
